What are good clothes to wear on your legs for hiking in the fall?
For my upper body im wearing a mid-weight base layer, a fleece and a parka, because it is snowing on mt. washington. But for my legs i was thinking a base layer and snow pants but they seem too heavy, and the cargo pants get wet. what should i wear on my legs?
Answer: My layering system for my legs for snow consists entirely of synthetic long underwear pants and water resistant coated nylon windbreaker type pants on top. Some people might prefer Gore-Tex pants, but I think the coated but non-seam sealed windbreaker pants function identically for less weight and less expense. I wear the REI MTS midweight thermals and Sierra Designs Microlight pants, which are my answer to your question:
